WHAT WE DO
By contributing to our food projects, you're making a direct impact. Your support translates into meals for those facing hunger, offering real assistance where it's needed most. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those struggling to put food on the table.
DONATE NOWWHAT'S IN OUR FOOD PARCEL?
Our Syrian food parcels are thoughtfully curated to cater to the unique dietary needs and cultural preferences of the Syrian population. We prioritise locally sourced ingredients, ensuring authenticity and an extended shelf life to meet the challenges posed by the ongoing crisis. These parcels offer a lifeline to families in need, providing them with essential sustenance during trying times.
Our commitment to sourcing these authentic ingredients not only ensures that the food parcels are culturally resonant but also promotes a sense of comfort and familiarity for those receiving them.
DONATE NOWFOOD SECURITY AND LIVELIHOOD
The prices of vital food staples are surging worldwide, and for those who have endured the devastation of conflict, displacement, disease, and the consequences of climate change, survival itself is becoming a daunting challenge. Each year, malnutrition claims the lives of more children than the combined fatalities from malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis. 45% of all deaths among children under the age of 5 can be traced back to malnutrition.
12.1 million people are grappling with food insecurity in Syria, with 2.7 million among them facing severe food shortages. Alongside this, 6.8 million individuals have been internally displaced due to more than a decade of conflict. Over a million Syrians are in dire need of humanitarian food aid just to survive. It's a painful reality where parents are forced to make heartbreaking choices, deciding which of their children can have a meal and which will go to bed hungry.
Our Livelihood Programme takes a comprehensive approach to addressing challenges in Syria, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas. We emphasise the importance of fostering cooperation within communities, encouraging collaboration, resource sharing, and mutual support to build solidarity. Self-reliance is another key focus, achieved through skills development and access to resources for independent income generation.
We operate with deep respect for Syrian cultural heritage, ensuring our interventions align with local customs, traditions, and values, preserving community cohesion. Our livelihoods program identifies the demand for essential services and addresses it through vocational training projects, such as sewing and IT skills development. These initiatives aim to create job opportunities and enhance economic prospects for community members.
AREAS OF ACTION
ROQAYA'S STORY
Roqaya's talent for creating perfumes and soaps has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. Her ability to blend scents and craft unique, high-quality products set her apart, but she found herself at a crossroads when it came to turning her passion into a sustainable venture. While her creative talents were evident, she faced uncertainty and lacked the necessary business acumen to sell her work.
Roqaya enrolled into our business course, the course equipped her with a wealth of knowledge and essential skills required to navigate the world of sales and business management. Roqaya learnt marketing, customer engagement, financial management, and strategic planning.
"The business course I undertook has truly benefited me. I now have the confidence to market my creations and have been able to provide for both myself and my family.”
Today, Roqaya is a successful businesswoman known for her high-quality perfumes and soaps, which have earned her a loyal customer base. We hope her story has inspired others in her community, demonstrating that with guidance and determination, passion can become a thriving business.
DONATE NOWAMINA'S STORY
7 year old Amina, from Syria who, due to the ongoing conflict, had to find work to help her family afford food. However, since receiving food parcels from Syria Relief, her life has taken a positive turn. These parcels, containing essential food items, have relieved the burden of hunger. With access to nutritious meals, she is hopeful about enrolling in school, where she can pursue her education and brighter future. Amina’s dreams of becoming a teacher.
Beyond the immediate impact on physical health, malnutrition poses a significant barrier to children's educational attainment and adults' economic prospects, reinforcing the cycle of poverty. We provide families with locally sourced food parcels containing essential ingredients to prepare balanced meals, enough to sustain a family of five for a month. Your food parcel donations can mean the difference between life and death, especially in areas with high numbers of internally displaced people with limited access to food and basic necessities.
If you're interested in donating to projects outside of Syria, our parent charity, Action for Humanity, operates across the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa: https://actionforhumanity.org.
