Maryam's Family Needs Urgent Medical Care
"I pray that God, organisations and people help me raise these children." Since fleeing the airstrikes, Maryam and her family have struggled to survive. Maryam needs blood pressure medicine, but frequently goes without due to their cost. She's been told to see a cardiologist, but simply can't afford to. Help is urgently needed so they can meet their needs. Help provide medical care today.
WHAT WE DO
In direct response to the pressing healthcare challenges at hand, we've set up an expansive medical aid program that stands as one of our most significant initiatives. This program involves overseeing a network of 24 hospitals and healthcare centres strategically positioned throughout northern Syria.
DONATE NOWPROVIDING EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE
Approximately 12.2 million individuals in Syria are in dire need of essential healthcare services. The protracted crisis in the region has left a significant number of healthcare facilities in a state of disarray, rendering them either outdated or severely damaged. As a result, a substantial portion of the population struggles to access the crucial medical care they require.
WE'VE UNDERTAKEN THE FOLLOWING KEY AREAS OF ACTION:
Emergency Care: We are dedicated to providing immediate and life-saving emergency care to victims of the ongoing conflict. Our medical teams work tirelessly to address injuries and traumas resulting from the crisis, ensuring that timely medical attention is accessible to those in need.
Chronic Illness: In addition to emergency services, we recognise the importance of ongoing medical care. We offer regular healthcare support for individuals grappling with chronic illnesses.
Vaccination Programs: Preventative healthcare is a vital component of our initiative. We administer vaccination programs to safeguard the health of communities, particularly vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. These programs play a crucial role in preventing the outbreak of infectious diseases.
Mental Health Support: The psychological toll of conflict is immense, and we understand the importance of addressing mental health concerns. As part of our program, we provide essential mental health support to help individuals cope with the emotional challenges they face in the wake of the crisis.
Syria Relief has consistently stood out as one of the most efficient and active humanitarian actors in Syria. For over three years, we've been at the forefront, managing critical healthcare facilities such as the Raqqa Maternity and Paediatric Hospital and the Shiheil Surgical Hospital in Deir ez-Zor. These facilities are lifelines for the communities they serve, collectively benefiting an average of 100,000 beneficiaries each year.
AREAS OF ACTION
AHMAD'S STORY
Meet Ahmad, a 7-year-old boy residing in an IDP camp in Northwest Syria. Ahmad faced the challenge of hearing loss, which hindered his ability to communicate with his family and peers. However, thanks to the Syria Relief’s health team's visit to the camp, Ahmad received a life-changing gift—a pair of hearing aids that addressed his urgent need. With the newfound ability to hear clearly, Ahmad underwent a transformation. He engaged with his loved ones, actively participated in school activities, and felt a profound sense of belonging. His parents, overwhelmed with gratitude, expressed their appreciation, "Thank you to the generous donors for giving our son the gift of hearing through the hearing aids – it has changed our life."
At Action For Humanity, our commitment to healthcare is unwavering, and our impact is measured not only in numbers but in the lives transformed and the hope restored to those we serve in Syria.
DONATE NOWAWAADS STORY
Awad, a young boy living in war-torn Syria, faced numerous challenges due to his hearing impairment. The ongoing conflict had left him without access to the necessary medical care and support he needed.
However, Awad's life took a significant turn when our teams in Syria identified his condition during one of our outreach missions. Recognising the importance of early intervention, our teams promptly provided him with a hearing aid.
The impact was profound. With his newfound ability to hear, Awad's world expanded. He could now engage with his family, friends, and peers more effectively. The simple joys of conversation, laughter, and understanding became a part of his daily life. Moreover, this intervention paved the way for him to receive an education, enabling him to dream of a brighter future.
We are deeply committed to fostering enduring health and well-being within the communities we serve. Our overarching mission is to guarantee that accessible healthcare remains readily available for those enduring the persistent challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in Syria.
