The situation in Yemen is becoming increasingly worse! All this week our team have been on the ground delivering emergency aid to Yemenis in need. Some of the images showing children suffering from malnutrition are even too graphic to for us to share.

According to the UN, the number of starving children in parts of Yemen are the highest recorded. In some areas one in five children under the age of five are acutely malnourished and in need of life-saving treatment.

Millions of parents in Yemen don’t know when they will next be able to feed their children. Yemen was already one of the poorest countries in the Middle East when the conflict began in March 2015, and this war has only escalated the need for food and essential humanitarian aid.

Food rations for north Yemen have already been cut in half since April. 40% of the population are currently facing acute food insecurity, and almost half of all Yemeni children under five will be malnourished by the end of 2020. Serious malnutrition in southern Yemen has risen 10% this year but rose to 15% among under-fives.

Yemen's healthcare is also in crisis. In addition to deaths caused by cholera, dengue fever and other diseases rampant in Yemen, COVID-19 is overwhelming hospitals, which are having to turn away patients.
