After 10 years of violence, 12 million Syrian’s need healthcare assistance. Throughout the conflict, medical facilities have been damaged and destroyed. With dangerous working conditions and targeted attacks, 70% of healthcare professionals have fled the country.
With the spread of COVID-19, the people of Syria are left more vulnerable without the facilities required to fight against this disease. Syria Relief is providing hygiene and health care kits along with awareness training to reduce the spread of the virus. Moderate to severe cases require intensive care treatment in hospitals and depend on ventilators to stay alive. Some patients fighting COVID-19 will die because there are not enough devices to accommodate all patients.
