Make The Difference, See The Difference
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors we supported 2,091,325 through our programmes in 2020!
Throughout the year we responded to emergencies across Syria, Yemen and Lebanon as well as running long term sustainable projects which support the local communities in these regions. It is thanks to our amazing donors that we are able to support vulnerable families in need.
As we look ahead to the rest of 2021, we hope to not only reach more people in need but extend our programmes to more locations.
In two months’ time, Syria’s crisis will turn ten years old and there seems to be no end in sight. The conflict has claimed the lives of more than 450, 000 people. The number of people in need reached 13 million in 2020, out of which 4.8 Million are vulnerable children.
The humanitarian crisis, which was caused by the conflict and worsened by COVID-19, has been further exacerbated by the economic crisis which has hit Syria and now another harsh winter.
The cost of goods is increasing whilst household incomes are decreasing. To cope people are being forced to engage in harmful coping mechanisms, like selling household assets, reducing food consumption, child labour and early marriage.
Across the borders, over five million refugees are struggling to survive in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq which has put an unsustainable strain on their economies.
This year, we are committed to continuing vital services to support vulnerable families and communities across multiple countries. Whatever 2021 has in store, Syria Relief is ready.
